Empowering List
Sometimes it’s difficult to stay motivated to achieve even some of the smallest tasks so I thought I would share this tried and trusted way to manifest huge change in your world
Ask yourself
What am I wanting to achieve?
Where will I be when I have achieved it?
How will I feel when it’s done?
When will now be a good time to do it?
Why, why, why, why am I doing it?!!
The list creation looks easy and the premise behind this little list is easy. I use it a lot to help my business coaching clients to get really clear on their objectives.
When you see something written down and it’s in an easy five step format of bullet points reminders you will find it easier to delay your gratification for something and focus on the bigger picture.
The tough bit is being really honest about why you are doing it and why you want it and what it will provide for you.
When we go to our place of work the motivation is often money. Let’s not kid ourselves that we are all trotting off to the office because of the joys it provides. Let’s not pretend that filing those returns, stacking those shelves or serving those customers is what we would be choosing to do with our days. Don’t get me wrong, lots of us are employed in work we love. Many of us tolerate our work as it provides us with the money we get rewarded with at the end of the month. That money buys us food, shelter and enjoyment. The challenging times come when you want to get motivated for something for yourself. There might not be any fiscal reward. There might be no recognition and completing the task might offer nothing to anyone but yourself. There might be no other reason on your list other than ‘I WANT TO’ and that my beautiful friends is enough reason in itself! No matter your reason, if you lack motivation, a list can help to get you moving in the direction of your goal.
